Polytechnic University of Turin asserts itself among the world's best universities: here are the results of the QS World University Rankings

The university climbs the international rankings, improving its position and gaining recognition in several prestigious indicators.

According to the recent results of the QS World University Rankings, Politecnico di Torino is one of the best universities in the world and ranked fifth in Italy. Compared to the previous edition, the university has shown significant improvement, climbing as many as 73 positions and reaching 252nd place internationally. This achievement is particularly significant considering that the ranking now includes more than 1,500 universities, with the addition of 97 new institutions.

The QS World University Rankings measurements are based on several indicators:

  • Citations per Faculty: this indicator highlights the appreciation of citations received by the scientific publications produced by the researchers of the university, the Politecnico di Torino particularly distinguished itself in this category, reaching 222nd place with an improvement of 14 positions over the previous edition
  • Academic Reputation: represents the foundation of the evaluation of universities, taking into account the reputation they have in the international academic environment. In this area, the Politecnico di Torino improved its ranking from the last edition, placing 225th worldwide and 8th in Italy.
  • Employer Reputation: depends onemployers' opinion of the university's graduates' preparation , which has allowed the Politecnico to maintain a prestigious position among the top 200, occupying 194th place globally and 2nd in Italy.
  • International Students: the university also improved its score in this category, which evaluates its ability to attract students from around the world. This result allowed it to advance 18 positions, ranking 313th worldwide and 2nd in Italy.
  • International Research Network: the quality of Politecnico di Torino's scientific production is further emphasized by this indicator, which measures the citation rate obtained by publications with international co-authors. In this category, the university ranks 313th globally and 16th in Italy.

In addition, in the QS World University Rankings they introduced a new indicator assessing social and environmental impact, and in this category the Politecnico ranked among the top ten Italian universities and 263rd globally.

Guido Saracco, Rector of the Politecnico di Torino, commented on the results as follows, "The excellent performance achieved in QS World University Rankings 2024 rewards the efforts aimed at ensuring the high quality of teaching, research and third mission at the Politecnico. Today's result encourages us to continue with the policies and growth strategies put in place in recent years in order to continue to make the Politecnico attractive to students, researchers and stakeholders gravitating around academia, and always attentive to the impact on the socio-economic and environmental system, a central theme of our university's Strategic Plan."
