"Torino cambia": the interventions that will change the city thanks to the NRPP

The interventions that will change Turin with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, national and European Union funds.

The resources of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and ordinary community programming, which are affecting Turin and the Metropolitan City, are substantial and represent a unique opportunity to revive the local economy, overcome the crisis in the economy and society generated by the pandemic, and achieve the ecological and environmental transition desired.

Over the next few years, more than 300 physical and intangible interventions will change the city, improving the lives of those who live, study, work and visit Turin. With the "Torino Cambia" project, the City wants to tell about them one by one.

It is about major urban transformations in the city's landmarks, such as the Valentino Park, and new transportation infrastructure, such as the Metro Line 2, which will change the way people move around the city. There are also actions to reduce emissions by fostering the development of renewable energy sources and the circular economy, such as the purchase of 245 electric buses and new eco-islands for waste sorting.

In addition, there are widespread actions for urban regeneration, energy efficiency and redevelopment of schools, libraries, public residences, sports facilities, markets and squares. There are plans for new bicycle links and solutions for getting around safely, major projects to ensure widespread, accessible and quality health, actions to care for green spaces and introduce natural solutions to combat the effects of climate change, and new digital services for a public administration closer to the citizen

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan, endorsed by our government and approved by the European Council in July 2021, is part of the Next Generation EU recovery program. Italy complements the NRPP with the National Plan for Complementary Investment. REACT-EU (Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe/Package of Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe) is the European instrument that follows up and expands on the crisis response measures generated by Covid-19 and is a bridge between the 2014-2020 Cohesion Policy and the new programming of European funds.

The areas guiding the City of Turin's investments and projects in the coming years are seven in number and aim to build an economically more robust city, a more cohesive, inclusive and sustainable Turin.
