After the office already opened in Milan with the opening of Turin, Italy becomes the only European country where the U.S. IT company will have two active Cloud Regions, out of a total of 35 active worldwide. In a projection made by the University of Turin, the expected economic impact is the development of a turnover of 3.5 billion within the next two years, generated by the synergy between the two centers operating in Piedmont and Lombardy. A study by the Milan Polytechnic also pointed to the possibility that the support of the two Cloud Regions to various projects of their technology partners, including TIM, could lead to the emergence of a market, for the latter, of nearly 2 billion by 2025..
The facility will make Google's cloud services available to Italian companies and public administrations that are undergoing a digitization process: high-availability cloud solutions with data sovereignty and data residency capabilities, faster access to Google Cloud's global network of infrastructure, management and execution of mission-critical applications, data residency monitoring of virtual private cloud services, encryption and Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Persistent Disk, CloudSQL and Cloud Identity services.
Google spokespersons are confident that companies operating in Italy that will benefit from the services offered will have the opportunity to dramatically improve and simplify the business continuity of their business and IT activities, thanks to the distribution of workloads on a cloud infrastructure that will also have the advantage of offering support in case of disaster recovery.
Enrico Bagnasco, Executive Director Information Systems at Intesa Sanpaolo, commented, "Ours will be one of the companies directly affected by the opening of this Google Cloud Region and will benefit from the cloud hyperscaling solutions made available by its infrastructure to further accelerate the digitization path of its services".
