The European Innovation Council's €10 billion program from Europe to support startups and researchers in creating innovative new businesses was presented in Turin. The role of the EIC, which is part of the Horizon Europe program, is critically important because of its significant budget and its aim to support the transformation of ideas and projects into successful business ventures.
During the project presentation in Turin, the board delved into key aspects of the program and heard success stories of Italian companies and startups with a strong innovative character. The plan will focus on three thematic strands:
- EIC Pathfinder for high-tech impact research;
- EIC Transition to transform the most promising research into sustainable businesses;
- EIC Accelerator to support the growth of innovative startups.
Jean-David Malo, Director of the Executive Agency of the European Innovation Council and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EISMEA), said the European Innovation Council was created by the European Commission to make the most of the knowledge produced, thereby fostering the emergence of new businesses. The EIC Council Chairman Mark Ferguson, on the other hand, said that the institute's goal is to simplify access to credit and maintain high and rigorous quality standards. According to Massimo Gaudina, EIC representative in Milan and Northern Italy, these elements are the key points that make the EIC one of the most important programs in the world in the field of research, with a budget of nearly 100 billion euros distributed over 7 years to universities, companies and research centers.
