In Turin, it launched the first accelerator dedicated to space startups, called Space Business Catalyst. This unique industrial accelerator aims to foster the development of new businesses in the space sector, by supporting innovative projects and promoting the growth of startups during the early stages.
The two sites of the accelerator are located in Turin, Italy, and Toulouse, France, which are considered the industrial capitals of their respective countries. The initiative is promoted by Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo, which announced the creation of this industrial accelerator during the New Space Congress in Paris. The city of Turin, hosting both the incubation program ESA Bic Turin in collaboration with I3P and Citadel of Aerospace, was a natural choice for this project. The Turin and Toulouse offices, with 400 square meters each, already welcome several startups from around the world.
Space Business Catalyst offers a comprehensive support program that includes technical, commercial, relational and financial assistance for project leaders, providing them with opportunities to create strategic partnerships in the aerospace industry. The accelerator's main goal is to foster the emergence of new companies in the industry, by supporting the development of innovative projects and helping startups define and implement their industrial expansion strategies.
The Thales Alenia Space has adopted a pioneering strategy in the New Space sector, focusing on building spacecraft, probes and scientific satellites in Turin, including the space station project on the Moon.
