Carlo Ratti Associati and the Sella Group bring the coworking of the future to Turin

The design studio returns to give shape to Turin's innovation: in collaboration with the banking group from Biella, the design of the Sella Open Innovation Center has begun.

Only 3 years ago Carlo Ratti and his study brought the Talent Garden Fondazione Agnellito the city. Today the 49-year-old Turin architect, now famous all over the world, strikes again: last week he presented the concept design of theOpen Innovation Center of the Sella Group in Turin.

In a year during which the term "contamination", rather familiar in the world of coworking, has unfortunately radically changed its meaning, the concept of health safety at workhas to be central. For this reason the project includes integrated solutions for sanitation of the workstations with ultraviolet lights e recirculation and filtering of conditioned air based on heat recovery ventilation (HRV), able to limit the spread of pathogens as well as ensuring theenergy efficiency of the building. The project starts from the idea of preventing the segregation of the worker in smart working by reaffirming the human value of the workplace as a social place, before productive, without putting in the background health and safety.

Carlo Ratti asked himself what the role of the office will be in the post-pandemic future: "Although a dose of remote working is desirable, physical offices are a beacon for innovation. It is only in shared workplaces that we can establish those connections that are crucial to produce new ideas and strengthen the corporate culture. With the Sella Open Innovation Center project, we strive to propose a resilient design alternative for the future of our office, which should be safe and sociable".

The Sella Open Innovation Center in Turin will also be dedicated to host those who live and let innovation live, that is our dear startups and in particular, in line with the core of the Sella Group, those operating in fintech. The workstations will be arranged according to the principle ofhot desking, meaning the use of a single workstation by several workers at different times and for different periods during the day. The analysis of employment data, a strong point in the project of Carlo Ratti Associati, will help in the management and assignment of workstations with the aim of fostering interactions between members of the same team by creating dynamics of open innovation.
