GoDigital! kicks off the digital transformation of the Royal Museums of Turin

The project is being launched thanks to the support of the call for proposals "SWITCH Strategies and tools for digital transformation in culture", promoted by Compagnia di San Paolo.

The digital revolution has begun for the Royal Museums of Turin. Over the next few years, museum services will evolve by creating a new model of interaction: starting with a new website, with innovative multimedia services and content, and a web app that will guide the public through the museum in a completely renewed and enriched experience, thanks to augmented reality and gamification. In addition, the Royal Gardens will be completely served by a free wi-fi network and the public will be guided throughout the museum by digital signs, concluding their visit by interacting with special stations where they can leave feedback on their experience.

In the coming weeks, training activities for staff will also begin so that all personnel will be ready for this transition, in order to be able to respond to the new needs of the Royal Museums and their public.

The project GoDigital! project was selected from over 40 applications received in the Compagnia di San Paolo's SWITCH call for proposals. The Turin-based foundation had opened its call in March 2020 to "encourage the development and dissemination of the culture and skills of innovation in cultural institutions, contributing to the economic sustainability of institutions through the implementation of an innovation plan based on management efficiency and promoting greater contamination between the world of technology and the world of cultural heritage".

The project concerning the Royal Museums will be developed with coMwork, already a technological partner of the pole since 2018, with the involvement of Ribes Solutions and Visivalab for the web app and gamification and Nethics for the development of the new site, with the support of the Council for the Enhancement of Artistic and Cultural Heritage of Turin.
