The use of hydrogen will be essential in all decarbonization processes related to the world of mobility and industrial processes. Stefano Geuna, Rector of the University of Turin and Guido Saracco, Rector of the Politecnico di Torino signed last week a collaboration agreement on hydrogen between the two universities they lead.
The two universities have long been engaged in research and innovation related to the use of this renewable and clean energy, specifically with regard to the mechanisms of production by extraction from water or biomass or through thermochemical processes. In these processes, even CO2 can become an "ally": through the production of specific machinery it is possible to recycle it and use it in hydrogen extraction processes.
During the presentation of this collaboration, which was also attended by Cristina Prandi (Università di Torino) and Stefano Corgnati (Politecnico di Torino) in the role of Vice Rectors for Research, the strategic role of the two universities in the development and support of companies and institutions in the area was highlighted. Moderated by Davide Damosso, Operations Director of Environment Park that hosted the event, Marcello Baricco (United) and Massimo Santarelli (Polito) presented the lines of research and innovation for the development of hydrogen-based technologies currently active at the two universities.
Stefano Geuna, Rector of Unito, said: "This agreement fits perfectly into the model of synergistic university system carried out with the Politecnico for the great developments that are carried out in this area. The two universities, together, are undoubtedly the driving force of expertise, experience and creativity that is needed to project into the future. On the theme of hydrogen United offers its expertise in advanced research to improve the integration between knowledge and development. The birth of a National Research Pole for Hydrogen would be another important strategic step for the growth of a City and Region increasingly oriented to the issues of sustainability and energy transition, with the intent to promote an increasingly structured interaction between research institutions and productive sectors".
