The Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2025, published by Startup Genome, confirms Turin’s presence among the hundred most promising emerging ecosystems in the world again this year. The city is in the range between 71st and 80th position, consolidating the growth already started in 2024, when it had gained more than twenty positions compared to 2023. This is not just a confirmation: Turin reinforces its positive trajectory, standing out among the fastest-evolving ecosystems globally.
Although it is not yet among the top forty international companies, Turin shows encouraging signs in terms of early-stage investments, ability to attract capital and the development of deep-tech initiatives. According to the report, the Turin ecosystem generated a value of about $3 billion, with seed and Series A investments reaching $309 million in the period analyzed. A figure that, although lower than the global average, reflects a strong growth rate and an increasingly favorable environment for innovation.
The 2025 edition of the GSER, presented during London Tech Week, analyzes over 350 ecosystems and more than five million startups globally. The report highlights a general contraction in the value of innovative ecosystems, with a 31% drop compared to the previous year, mainly due to the decrease in IPOs and millionaire exits. In this uncertain context, Turin still manages to stand out, also thanks to the growing interest in sectors such as artificial intelligence, aerospace, medtech and smart cities.
Among the most significant signs, the report highlights the launch in Turin of the AI4I Institute, the new national center dedicated to artificial intelligence applied to industry, and the presence of programs to support deep-tech startups such as ESA BIC, specialized in aerospace. In this fermenting ecosystem, Startup Genome also mentions ToTeM – Torino Tech Map as one of the key initiatives for the consolidation and visibility of Turin’s innovation.
For the second year in a row, the international report recognizes the role of ToTeM as a strategic player in the ecosystem, a point of reference for mapping and connecting startups, investors, incubators, accelerators and institutions. The platform is confirmed as an essential tool for orienting oneself within the local tech landscape, helping Turin to emerge on the international scene.
The mention in GSER 2025 reinforces the centrality of ToTeM and enhances the collective work that in recent years has made Turin an increasingly attractive city for those who innovate. In a complex and competitive global landscape, maintaining and consolidating our position among the top 100 emerging ecosystems is a significant milestone and a solid foundation on which to build the next steps.
