The final of the Business Angel of the Year Award was held last night: Carlo Tassi is the “Best Angel Investor in Italy of 2024”. The award ceremony took place at OGR Torino, on the opening day of Italian Tech Week, the main Italian tech conference. The winner was voted live by the jury of the Award, chaired by Roberto Marsella (winner of the 2023 edition) and composed of the main protagonists of investments in innovation and startups in Italy, after attending the presentation of the four finalist business angels: Benedetta Arese Lucini, Paolo Giolito, Giuseppe Lacerenza and Carlo Tassi.
Carlo Tassi, after more than 25 years as an entrepreneur in the ceramics and machinery sectors, sold the family business in 2014, undertaking an intense investment activity in startups, which led him to invest in about 300 companies, both directly and through vehicles and venture capital funds. His first investment, Kippy, generated an exit that repaid all the investments made in the following 9 years, an achievement that underlines his intuition and his ability to create value. Since 2021 he has been President of Italian Angels for Growth, where he continues to support the Italian startup ecosystem, distinguishing himself for his practical approach, always ready to offer advice and suggestions to the founders of the companies in which he has invested and also to those in which he has not invested, with the aim of helping them grow and achieve success.
The Business Angel of the Year Award is the main event in Italy dedicated to angel investing, organized every year by the Club degli Investitori with the support of KPMG, UniCredit, UniCredit StartLab and the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Tech Alliance. The award ceremony was also enlivened by the participation of prominent speakers in the world of innovation and on the international scene.
Giancarlo Rocchietti, President of the Club degli Investitori, said: “It was an event dedicated to the internationalization of Italian angel investing. In a context of continental challenges for technological supremacy, we business angels are increasingly supporting companies with cutting-edge technology and global ambitions, together with our international partners“.
