Presented Holden.ai StoryLab, the writing and artificial intelligence workshop of the Scuola Holden of Turin

A pioneering new workshop at Turin's Scuola Holden opens new frontiers in storytelling with Artificial Intelligence.

Born at the Scuola Holden of Turin Holden.ai StoryLab, a laboratory and observatory dedicated to generative artificial intelligences and "synthetic media" with an eye toward the world of storytelling, communication and creativity. Simone Arcagni and Riccardo Milanesi will lead a team of researchers and creatives on a path of study, research and dissemination, opening new perspectives in the field of contemporary humanities.

This project was born thanks to the partnership between Rai Cinema and the Transmedia Lab of La Sapienza University of Rome, and aims to collect news, images, videos and other material to disseminate content in different formats through workshops, lectures, courses and talks. The main goal is to educate new creatives in the conscious and effective use of Artificial Intelligence.

The workshops will be organized in three parts:

  • Observatory: A group of researchers and creatives led by Simone Arcagni and Riccardo Milanesi will closely observe change, studying and researching new means of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Outreach: Will offer events and cross-curricular classes to educate creatives on the use of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence in storytelling and creativity.
  • Practice: Artificial Intelligence will be applied to the world of storytelling and creativity in collaboration with Rai Cinema and the Transmedia Lab at La Sapienza University of Rome.

Holden.ai StoryLab has designed an innovative course for Holden School's three-year "Academy" degree program. The "Instability" course is based on the idea that writing is an ever-open work that is constantly adapting to changes in the world around it. The traditional theoretical approach would be obsolete in this context, so the focus is on using Artificial Intelligence as a tool for understanding and making the most of the challenges of the constantly changing world..

Holden.ai StoryLab already has a multiplatform serial project in the works, developed in collaboration with Rai Cinema and written by a team of Holden screenwriters, which will be presented in September in a prestigious setting.

At the first event last July 13 at the Videocittà Festival in Rome, Simone Arcagni, Riccardo Milanesi, Demetra Birtone, Holden communication office, and Carlo Rodomonti, Rai Cinema's strategic and digital marketing manager, participated in the panel "Artificial Intelligence and Synthetic Media: the New Frontiers of Storytelling and Creativity."

On October 6 at the Holden School there will instead be the meeting "Artificial Visions: Storytelling (with) AI,"in which Simone Arcagni and Riccardo Milanesi will present the Lab together with Giovanni Abitante, one of the most famous Italian filmmakers using Artificial Intelligence.

Holden.ai StoryLab represents a pioneering landmark in Italy, helping to redefine the landscape of contemporary narratives through the conscious and creative use of generative artificial intelligence.
