The Club degli Investitori has awarded Lucio Rovati as Business Angel of the Year 2025

During Italian Tech Week, the final of the ninth edition of the Business Angel of the Year Award, the main event in Italy dedicated to angel investing, took place.

Lucio Rovati is the Best Angel Investor in Italy in 2025: the award ceremony took place at OGR Torino on the opening day of Italian Tech Week , the main Italian tech conference. The winner was voted by the jury of the Award, chaired by the 2024 winner Carlo Tassi and composed of the main protagonists of Venture Capital in Italy and numerous journalists. The award is organized by Club degli Investitori with the support of KPMG, UniCredit , UniCredit StartLab and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Tech Alliance .

Entrepreneur and member of the founding family of the pharmaceutical company Rottapharm, he is CEO of Rottapharm Biotech as well as a doctor, researcher and author of 200 articles in scientific journals. He has invested in numerous biotech startups in Italy, USA, France, Belgium, Holland and Spain. Its approach is to combine financial support with technical skills, participating in the boards of directors or scientific committees of companies.

Among its investments there are, mainly in the Biotech and Medtech sector: in Italy Altheia , Genenta , MgShell and Takis while abroad Dorian, Nanocell , Peptomyc and InteRNA.

This year the jury also recognized two special prizes:

  1. The first, for the best social impact angel investing activity , went to Marco Nannini, one of the pioneers of social impact in Italy. She has supported 30 startups and founded two networks: Angels4Women and Angels4Impact .
  2. The second, for the best international angel investing activity, went to Giuseppe Lacerenza, who lives in Amsterdam, works in the Venture Capital sector and has personally invested and supported 30 startups in Italy and abroad.

The final was also animated by the participation of prominent speakers in the world of innovation and on the international scene. It opened with a speech by Giancarlo Rocchietti, President of the Club degli Investitori, on the ethics and responsibilities of business angels , followed by a panel, moderated by Bianca Bonetti, on the energy of the future with Francesco Sciortino (founder and CEO of Proxima Fusion) and Claudio Spadacini (angel investor of Proxima and founder of Energy Dome)

Giancarlo Rocchietti said: “It was an event dedicated to the ethical aspects of angel investing and we are happy to have highlighted the social impact of our activities. We have rewarded people who make a fundamental contribution to creating the companies of the future“.
