At the Candiolo Institute – IRCCS , the PET-CT GE OMNI LEGEND has come into operation, one of the most advanced diagnostic imaging systems on the market and available in only a few centers in Italy. This is a technological feature that marks an important step forward in early diagnosis strategies, combining computing power and artificial intelligence algorithms.
For patients, the arrival of this equipment translates into faster and less invasive examinations. Image acquisition times are significantly reduced, while exposure to ionizing radiation is limited. The high image quality allows for the detection of smaller, early-stage lesions, increasing the accuracy and reliability of diagnoses.
On the technical side, PET-CT uses AI algorithms to optimize patient positioning and image reconstruction, ensuring maximum precision and operational safety.
Dr. Riccardo Faletti, director of radiodiagnostics at the university direction of the institute, commented: “This new equipment allows us to obtain very high definition images in a short time, improving diagnostic quality and patient comfort. It is an important step towards increasingly personalized precision medicine.”
The purchase was made possible thanks to the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research, which has always been committed to supporting innovation and research.
Allegra Agnelli, president of the Foundation, said: “Each new technological investment represents a concrete step in our mission to support research and offer patients increasingly effective diagnostic and therapeutic tools. The latest generation PET-CT further strengthens the excellence of the Candiolo Institute, confirming the importance of the link between innovation and the solidarity of all our supporters“.
