The Digital Revolution House, a new center dedicated to interdisciplinary research and advanced training with a focus on AI and digital innovation, will be born in Turin. The project involves the Polytechnic University of Turin, AI4I – Italian Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Fondazione CRT and other public and private partners, with a total investment of more than 40 million euros.
Located in the Spina 2 area, next to the Energy Center inside the Polytechnic Citadel, the Digital Revolution House is spread over five floors above ground plus a basement.
On the ground floor there will be the “House of Teams”, where the student teams of the Politecnico will have laboratories and workshops available to carry out experimental and applied research activities. On the first floor there will be modular classrooms for lessons, workshops and group activities, spaces that will integrate the educational offer without increasing the total number of classrooms available to students, but offering new opportunities for growth and comparison. The upper floors will be mainly dedicated to the research activities of the Italian Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AI4I), which currently operates temporarily at OGR Torino.
This project, born from a participatory process promoted by the Politecnico as part of the 2024-2030 Strategic Plan, responds to the need to create functional environments for teaching and research in priority digital sectors, promoting synergy between training, research and business to increase the competitiveness of the territory.
The project aims to strengthen Turin as a laboratory of innovation and inclusion. The building will be built following the criteria of the Itaca Protocol, which assesses energy efficiency, environmental impact and user well-being, ensuring a sustainable structure with a low environmental impact. The Digital Revolution House is configured as a strategic hub in which teaching, research and technology transfer are integrated, creating an environment capable of attracting talent, investments and collaborations at national and international level.
Anna Maria Poggi, President of the CRT Foundation, commented: “Turin confirms itself as the capital of innovation at national and international level. The CRT Foundation has always made its resources available to
Stefano Corgnati, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Turin, said: “We are working on a large innovation hub on all the new frontiers of digital, with particular reference to the connection with AI4I. The goal is to create a physical place of international attractiveness, which on the one hand allows students to have a place to apply their knowledge and on the other attracts international researchers, to increasingly establish a community dedicated to the new frontiers of the digital transition by opening a dialogue between talents and industry“.
Fabio Pammolli, President of AI4I, concluded: ” A fundamental step in the life of our Institute is completed. We want to bring a significant number of young scientists from all over the world, allowing them to operate at the center of an integrated ecosystem on the most advanced frontier of technological research.”
