Politecnico di Torino opens PoliTo Japan Hub in Kyoto, the first independent office of an Italian university in Japan

This initiative will promote research, collaboration with companies and institutions and the creation of new synergies between Italy and the Land of the Rising Sun.

Japan is an advanced economic system and one of the strongest economies in the world. Politecnico di Torino has established strong ties in research and education with Japan, working in collaboration with more than 20 Japanese universities. Together, they have carried out research projects worth more than 1 million euros and achieved important scientific results.

The PoliTo Japan Hub will serve as a meeting point between Politecnico di Torino and the Kansai region, with Kyoto as the center of academic activity and innovation. The main objective of the hub is to coordinate, promote and enhance the education, research, innovation and outreach activities of the Politecnico in Japan. The hub will fostercollaborative networking with local companies and organizations, addressing common challenges such as environmental risk management, aging society, and preservation of cultural heritage.

The PoliTo Japan Hub will not only be a working space for Polytechnic researchers and faculty, but also a meeting point between Italian and Japanese cultures. It will be a place where they will organize cultural events and exhibitions to promote exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries.

During the inauguration of the PoliTo Japan Hub, were signed new collaboration agreements with Japanese universities. These agreements will enable the development of joint PhD programs and create additional opportunities for scientific collaboration between Italy and Japan.

The PoliTo Japan Hub represents an important step forward for the Politecnico di Torino in its international engagement and in creating a platform for collaboration with one of the most advanced economic systems in the world. This initiative will make it possible to share knowledge, skills and innovations, contributing to the scientific and technological progress of both countries.
