The Municipality of Ivrea and the Politecnico di Torino have recently signed a cooperation protocol aimed at enhance scientific and technological knowledge for the Public Administration. This strategic partnership aims to launch a series of joint initiatives in the fields of research and technology transfer, high-level training and experimentation in various areas, including digital technologies geared towards improving human life, known as “Augmented Humanity”.
The agreement signed aims to promote activities on several fronts. These include the organisation of seminars, courses, summer facilities, internships and teaching modules. The two entities will also propose to conduct studies and research, organise meetings, congresses and conferences, as well as facilitate collaboration on projects involving other bodies and institutions in the area..
The Rector of the Politecnico di Torino, Guido Saracco, emphasised the importance of making the University's expertise available to the territory to support sustainable technological development. He also highlighted the opportunities offered by the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the new upskilling and reskilling training opportunities that will help create growth opportunities.
The Mayor of Ivrea, Matteo Chiantore, commented on the ongoing transformations in municipalities and metropolitan areas, emphasising the complexity and challenges of environmental and social sustainability, digital transition and new governance models. He highlighted the collaboration between the Turin Polytechnic and the Municipality of Ivrea as a key element in this context, where training and expertise are fundamental for lasting growth and the development of policies geared towards social and economic sustainability..
Canavese regional councillor Alberto Avetta, emphasised the importance of Ivrea as a driving force for the Canavese area and expressed confidence that the local administration can restore the city to its historical role in the field of innovation. He emphasised the need for support from the Cirio Council to recognise and encourage initiatives like the one announced by Mayor Chiantore and Rector Saracco, highlighting Ivrea's unique know-how and its ability to create highly qualified jobs.
