Demo Day of the 2023 class of Torino Cities of the Future Techstars Accelerator announced

The conclusion of the 13-week Cities of Tomorrow startup accelerator at OGR Torino is approaching.

Techstars is the world's largest investor in startups by number of investments and opened its Italian office in 2020. In 3 years it has invested in more than 40 startups, raised more than 70 million euros and generated more than 400 jobs. On May 11, 2023, will take place the Demo Day of this year's Torino Cities of the Future Techstars Accelerator programthe event will feature 10 innovative startups from different European countries, concluding the 13-week accelerator program designed to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in different sectors, including mobility, sustainability, deep tech, logistics, and edutech.

Over the past 3 1/2 years, Techstars in Turin has achieved remarkable success, launching the first Smart Mobility accelerator and the first international accelerator program at OGR Torino. In 2022, the program expanded to become Italy's first accelerator focused on Smart Cities. Through collaboration with local companies and innovation centers, such as Torino City Lab, participating companies have had access to POC opportunities through collaboration with the City of Turin and corporate partners.

Demo Day offers a unique opportunity for participating startups to present their final pitch to an audience of investors, potential customers, partners and startup stakeholders from across Europe. The event will take place at the OGR in Turin, Italy's hub for successful entrepreneurs, and will include networking opportunities, allowing participants to engage with startups, ask questions and provide feedback.

Torino Cities of the Future Techstars Accelerator program has promoted innovation and entrepreneurship in Turin and beyond, thanks to the continued support of partners Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Fondazione CRT. Their mentorship, funding and resources have been invaluable in helping participating startups develop and grow their businesses.

The fourth edition of the program highlights the growth of the Italian venture capital industry, which had a record year in 2022, with capital invested exceeding 1.8 billion euros, representing a 48 percent increase over the previous year.

The 10 startups that will present during Demo Day will be:

  • Automatika Robotics (France): AI for human-like navigation in unstructured spaces
  • Empethy (Italy): end-to-end platform that is changing the way people find, choose and adopt a pet
  • Heloola (Italy): digital book club that is revolutionizing the way books are marketed, sold and experienced
  • Intuitivo (Portugal): all-in-one digital assessment platform for schools
  • Pack (Italy): HR-Tech platform to foster people growth with data-driven mentoring and increase employee retention
  • Preflet (Portugal): startup on a mission to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings with energy management through artificial intelligence
  • Sirius (Netherlands): platform offering small businesses the opportunity to decarbonize
  • Sorair (UK): end-to-end supply chain automation platform using software management systems and robotic technology
  • Tutornow (Italy): digital tutoring platform for students of all ages and subjects
  • Wibo (Italy): startup that through gamification helps companies retain talent through a community-based, mobile-oriented learning platform
