Fortune Italia presented the AI 20 list, the selection of twenty young Italian hi-tech companies working with machine learning and artificial intelligence in sectors such as aerospace, healthcare, industry 4.0, agriculture, smart mobility, environmental sustainability, and e-commerce. The roster was compiled based on a list of startups that have artificial intelligence as their founding technology and through a call published on the magazine's website to which 80 innovative companies responded.
Among these were also included four startups that were established and incubated in Turin at I3P, the incubator of innovative enterprises of the Polytechnic of Turin and that have already collected investments, participated in national contests and started to collaborate with leading companies in their sectors.
AIKO
Aiko is a Turin-based startup that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to automate some in-orbit operations that are performed during aerospace missions. The young company, Startup of the Year 2020 in I3P, closed a €1.5m funding round.
ALBA Robot
Alba Robot , founded in Turin in 2019, proposes a micro-mobility platform for the transportation of non-self-sufficient people and people with reduced mobility inside buildings such as hospitals and nursing homes but also airports, stations and museums. Its vehicles combine innovations in smart mobility with those of voice assistants, robotics and IoT. It isthe only Italian company to have been selected by Amazon for the Alexa Next Stage 2020.
Clearbox AI
Clearbox AI is a young Turin-based company that focuses on data-centric MLOps to help companies launch AI and Analytics projects through the use of synthetic data. Clearbox AI's product solves challenges related to data access, sharing, and quality through automatic generation of synthetic data and reports on data quality and privacy profile to operate in compliance with regulations that protect it, such as GDPR. Winner of the ICT Prize at the 2019 National Innovation Awards.
Pixies
Pixies is a Roman company, incubated in I3P, that has created a photovoltaic robot that collects and sorts urban waste thanks to image recognition. With this invention, the startup's team won the Team Giovani prize at Start Cup Lazio 2021 and the prize as Best young innovative startup, awarded by Confindustria during the National Innovation Award 2021.
