Politecnico di Torino: new international master's degree in Communications Engineering

The degree programme includes experimentation on fibre optics, 5G, IoT, monitoring and emergency management using drones.

The master's degree course in Communications Engineering, which will replace Telecommunications Engineering, were conceived by the Politecnico di Torino to align the university's educational offerings with the objectives of the NRP: to accelerate the country's innovation, relaunch the economy and promote the digital transition. The new course of study, delivered using innovative teaching methods and entirely in English, will start next academic year.

In order to better prepare tomorrow's professionals in the field of digital transition, the course will be developed in such a way as to favour experimental and group project activities concerning the use and application of new solutions for emerging technologies in the field of telecommunications. The labs, equipped with artificial intelligence tools, will help students devise innovative solutions in the fields of fibre optics, 5G, IoT and drones.

Paolo Giaccone, a professor at the Politecnico who will coordinate the LM Communication Engineering, commented: "With this degree, the Politecnico wants to respond to the ever-increasing demand for skills in the telecommunications sector, which will be central to relaunching the economy after the recent crises and to tackling global challenges such as climate change. The project-based teaching approach, central and successful in the Politecnico di Torino's university education, will guarantee high employment rates and salaries above national averages for graduates in the sector".
