Huawei's cybersecurity SmartBus tour started in Turin

The initiative will visit 15 cities and involve more than 4,500 students.

Started in Turin, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, SmartBus, the initiative by Huawei Italy that will offer free training sessions to students aged between 10 and 14 on online security, personal data protection and combating cyberbullying. The tour will stop in five different Italian regions.

The SmartBus is set up as a mobile interactive classroom with digital devices in which the young people involved will be able to carry out attività formative con il supporto di un’app didattica sviluppata da Parole O_Stili, a social awareness-raising project against word violence that aims to redefine the ways in which people populate the Internet, spreading a positive attitude.

Boys and girls who will visit SmartBus will be able to interface with tutors with the task of creating an engaging, interactive and fun environment, and of coordinating moments of learning that include the possibility of relating by simulating situations that could occur online and that could be potentially risky, such as the request of personal data or photos made by unknown people.

The SmartBus will stop in each city on the tour for three days and is also available to citizens interested in improving their knowledge in the areas of cybersecurity, privacy and the use of digital tools, depending on their level of digitalisation measured by a test that will be carried out directly on board the mobile classroom.

Fabio Romano, Head of Industry Ecostystem Development Huawei Italy, commented: "Huawei is the owner of the initiative and SmartBus is its driver. Since its launch and until September 2022, SmartBus has already involved more than 300 schools in eight countries, including Spain, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands, and we have reached over 65,000 students, parents and teachers. In Turin, we chose Parole O_Stili as our communication partner. We offer training sessions to students between 10 and 14 years old, but also to all citizenship. We are targeting a population that has a very critical age group: while on the one hand it seems to have a certain familiarity with digital tools, on the other hand, it is truly overexposed and vulnerable, precisely because it is immersed in digital environments on a daily basis".
