Eight startups selected for ESA BIC Turin's aerospace incubator

The winning projects from the call focus on logistics, space robotics, batteries, satellites, solar panels, cultivation in space and cybersecurity.

Announced the eight startups selected to participate in the first edition of the ESA BIC Turin, run by I3P with technological support from Politecnico di Torino and Links Foundation, in coordination with the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency.

The Piedmont Region will contribute by delivering part of the grants offered, while Turin Chamber of Commerce will provide financial support to the research center together with Compagnia di San Paolo which will also field innovative investment tools to support the technological development and growth of the selected startups.

The companies selected by the call will receive a financial contribution of €50,000, for product development and intellectual property management, and will access business coaching and mentoring activities, technological support, support in fundraising and networking with the partners of ESA BIC Turin and with the network of companies, investment funds and research institutions connected to the other ESA BICs of Europe.

Giuseppe Scellato, president of I3P and coordinator of ESA BIC Turin, commented, "We are really proud of the group of entrepreneurial and scientific talent gathered for the inaugural edition of our incubation program, which is positioned as a unique opportunity at the Italian level. We are now working with the startups to offer collaborations for technical and business development and support their growth and integration into the aerospace sector".

Francesco Profumo, president of Compagnia di San Paolo, added: "Turin is increasingly establishing itself as the Italian reality where startups accelerate, that is, a vibrant ecosystem ecosystem where entrepreneurial projects can find the skills, financial resources and industrial fabric needed to stabilize and grow. It is therefore with enthusiasm that we are preparing to launch the inaugural edition of ESA BIC Turin, which our Foundation is supporting both by contributing to cover operating expenses and by resorting to innovative financial instruments to support startups".
