Innovation block: the business district of the future in the city centre

The Turin Chamber of Commerce presents its plan to renovate the headquarters in Piazzale Valdo Fusi: investments of over €25 million to redesign a district at the service of innovation.

Digital, innovative services, cutting-edge technologies, entrepreneurship, social impact, events, many elements all brought together in a single house, articulated in several rooms and for this reason more spacious and modern, thanks to the substantial investment of over 25 million planned by the Turin Chamber of Commerce for the relaunch of its headquarters.

Its name is Innovation Block and it will become an area of innovative experimentation made available by the Chamber of Commerce to all Turin businesses and the city and regional community, thanks to the fortunate contiguity - practically in a single block around Piazzale Valdo Fusi - of all the historic buildings involved in the major investment.

Dario Gallina, President of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, explains: "A grouping not only of spaces and locations, but above all of increasingly innovative and digital ideas and services designed for all businesses and citizens. This is the objective of the important investment that the Chamber of Commerce, confirming its mission as the territory's development engine, is putting into place to create, over the next few years, a true innovation and social impact district, in an area strategically located in the centre of the city and totally redesigned to serve everyone".

The buildings, which are the subject of a complex redevelopment and regeneration project, will have multiple functions: from services for entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship to the attraction and aggregation of SMEs, from projects about most innovative digital development to the organisation of major events and congresses for the city. All this is also possible thanks to the strong collaboration with the other institutions involved in the process of revitalising our territory, first and foremost the City of Turin and Piedmont Region, in a joint effort on the themes of innovation, inclusion, tourism, skills and digitalisation.

According to the Mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo: "Technological innovation is changing the quality of our daily life, and this passes through fundamental principles, such as the transfer of knowledge and the application of new materials and fittings. We therefore welcome the investment made by the Chamber of Commerce because it is in line with the City's strategy of upgrading existing buildings, adapting them to new environmental and sustainability requirements, and enriching them with new digital solutions useful for citizens and businesses. Piazzale Valdo Fusi will thus become the first and most technological part of the city. The effects will be direct on the services offered and new opportunities for simplification will open up“.

"Turin and Piedmont continue to invest in their urban and productive development on the strength of a DNA that combines history and innovation," emphasised Piedmont Region President Alberto Cirio and Councillor for Productive Activities Andrea Tronzano. "The Innovation Block then represents another strategic piece on the map of Turin's transformation, because it places alongside the projects of the Aerospace City and the Manufacturing Technology and Competence Centre a third pole dedicated to business and research excellence, in this case in the heart of the city's historic centre".
