Webinar: Call for solutions – Environmental Degradation

Fourth appointment with the RETURN project: discover its calls for start-ups and SMEs, with scientific insights.

The project RETURN (acronym for Multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate) is an extended partnership, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which aims to strengthen chains of the research on environmental, natural and anthropogenic risks at national level, promoting participation in strategic European and global value chains. Through the enhancement of the knowledge base and the application of technology, the project contributes to the strengthening of key competencies, technology transfer and knowledge transfer, and Italian governance in disaster risk management, involving public administrations, stakeholders and private enterprises.

The RETURN partnership, co-ordinated by University of Naples Federico II, includes the participation of the Politecnico di Torino, leader of Spoke 6 - TS2: Multi-Risk Resilience of Critical Infrastructures, and involves 26 partners, including 12 universities, 5 research bodies and competence centres, 6 private companies, 2 territorial authorities and the Civil Protection Department, for an investment provided by the Ministry of University and Research of over 115 million euro. Among the activities managed by the RETURN Foundationare calls for tenders for enterprises: the project aims to identify and support startups, spinoffs and innovative SMEs with a specific focus on the prevention, management and mitigation of environmental, natural and man-made risks. Also participating in the programme is I3P, the Incubator of the Politecnico di Torino, which has organised a series of appointments to disseminate the opportunities of the RETURN calls for proposals to the network of innovative startups and to involve the young companies most in line with the types of technological solutions sought.

The fourth and final installment of this series, devoted to the vertical sphere Environmental Degradation (afferent to the Spoke VS4 of the project), will be held on Thursday May 20, 2024, at 3 pm, as an online webinar with free participation. During the digital meeting, which will be held in Italian, the RETURN project and its calls for SMEs will be presented, with an in-depth look at the specific vertical related to the mitigation of the risk of environmental degradation such as in the case of forest fires, anthropogenic impacts on marine-coastal ecosystems, and chemical contamination in the environment. A startup from the I3P network will also bring a testimony of its innovative entrepreneurial project in this field.
