On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, I3P, the Innovative Companies Incubator of the Politecnico di Torino, has launched a series of special events entitled Scintille (Sparks): a series of meetings with brilliant minds and prominent personalities, not only from the world of technology, who have left an important mark in their field and beyond.
After the success of the first two dates in March and April, I3P is pleased to present the third event on Tuesday 14 May with a new guest with a truly unique profile: Chiara Montanari, the first Italian to have led an expedition to Antarctica and an engineer with decades of experience in managing polar missions at international research bases.
"Uncertainty has a bright side, because it awakens our vitality". This is one of the phrases Chiara uses to describe her relationship with adventure and the exploration of ever new horizons, often in challenging conditions that require constant ingenuity. It is a state of mind familiar to young startuppers who try their hand every day in their fledgling enterprise, still lacking security and exposed to a thousand unforeseen events, but animated by passion and the desire to achieve something never seen before.
In addition to having taken part in five expeditions to Antarctica. representing not only Italy but also France and Belgium, Chiara Montanari has managed some of the most extreme research bases on our planet, such as the Concordia base, which is located at the top of the polar cap, at an altitude of 4,000 metres and with temperatures between minus 50 and minus 80 degrees Celsius.
Chiara also conducted research in Organisation Theory at the Politecnico di Milano Polytechnic of Milan and at the Centre for Epistemology of Complexity at theUniversity of Bergamo, and then took on management roles in several major sectors and companies . He has collaborated with the Cherenkov Telescope Array, the international astronomical observatory for high-energy exploration of the universe, and currently offers training courses to companies interested in developing the so-called Antarctic Mindset, the ability to thrive in uncertainty. He is a speaker of TEDx and collaborates with several non-profit organisations on issues of empowerment in the youth entrepreneurship, research awareness and environmental sustainability.
How to participate
The meeting will be held on martedì 14 maggio 2024, starting at 18:00, in presence at Sala Agorà ofI3P incubator, located within the Campus of the Politecnico di Torino and accessible both from the main gate of corso Castelfidardo 30/A, and from the pedestrian entrance of via Pier Carlo Boggio 59.
