The new edition of Techstars Smart Mobility starts at OGR Tech

The acceleration path about mobility, on which Turin has the exclusivity, starts again involving 12 startups from all over the world.

The 12 startups that will be part of the new edition of the acceleration program Techstars Smart Mobility, the first in Europe dedicated entirely to sustainable and innovative mobility, have been announced. Techstars is a world leader in this field, with a portfolio of 2,300 startups already accelerated around the world: with the involvement of Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center has selected and brought to Turin, among hundreds of applications, startups from every continent. The acceleration process will take place in OGR Tech, the space dedicated to innovation in the Officine Grandi Riparazioni in Turin, created by Talent Garden and Fondazione CRT.

The intention is to repeat the success of the 2020 edition by involving the selected startups in a total of 1,500 meetings, training sessions and mentorship activities with 150 international mentors. The goal is to engage all participants in the creation of an ecosystem based on constructive collaborations thanks to the mediation of the already mentioned main partners of the initiative (Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center). The startups will participate in a 13-week program that will conclude with the presentation of the results of the work during the Demo Day on April 22, 2021in the presence of venture capitalists, business angels, investors, entrepreneurs and institutions.

Martin Olczyk, Managing Director of the program says,"Turin's supportive ecosystem offers a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and connect with the smartest people on the planet. I am impressed by the support founders receive from all of our stakeholders, for example from our three partners Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, but also from the mentors involved in the program and the City of Torino with the Torino City Lab and access to new opportunities for experimentation. The ecosystem of Turin and Italy has made tremendous progress in the last 18 months and we look forward to seeing companies grow and benefit from this booming market in the coming years“.

Francesco Profumo, President of Compagnia di San Paolo: "Of particular value are the strong links forged between the accelerated startups and Turin's industrial fabric, including the choice of a U.S. company to open an office in Turin to bring its business to Europe. The 2021 edition, with 12 new startups selected on a global scale, is an opportunity for further growth for Turin's innovation ecosystem. Our Foundation, as an ecosystem developer strongly supports this initiative with the intent to strengthen the strategic positioning of Turin as an international hub for innovators".

Maurizio Montagnese, President of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, concluded: "Our goal is to strengthen, with Techstars and the other partners, a unique ecosystem in Turin, where new collaborations and projects can grow".
