October will see the start of a course at the Politecnico di Torino, whose enrolment is open until 2 September on the website of the university's Master's and Continuing Education School in Corso Duca degli Abruzzi. The course will last 420 hours to train quantum specialists: nine months of frontal classroom teaching and laboratory exercises with lecturers from the Politecnico di Torino and heads of quantum research programmes of INRiM and Links Foundation. The research activities will meet industrial applications, forming a training offering hitherto unheard of in Italy, to find applications and uses for quantum computers connected to a Quantum Internet network.
Target sectors include finance, software development, telecommunications, aerospace and defence. This master's degree is aimed at graduates in computer, electronics and telecommunications engineering, physics, materials science and mathematics. The training will focus on elements of computation, communication and cryptography, all fields in which a real revolution is expected in the coming years regarding the technological applications of quantum physics.
