Ali Sleiman, David Mihalache and Loris Gay met at I3P and founded Enzers, a startup based at Talent Garden Fondazione Agnelli that offers sustainable vegan, cruelty free and biodegradable solutions for household cleaning and laundry without impacting on the environment. In fact, Greenpeace recently presented a report showing that detergents used to wash dishes, floors, household surfaces and laundry in the European Union alone release 40,000 tons of plastic into the environment.
David Mihalache commented: "With us, the customer actually buys only the active ingredient in convenient tablets, which can be dissolved in plain tap water and diluted in the appropriate vial countless times, thus saving not only money but also environmental impact". Enzers, in fact, also offers its customers a starter kit of vials made of recycled and recyclable plastic, and the tabs are stored in paper packaging that is also recycled and therefore easily disposable.
"Our solution provides significant savings," Mihalache added. "We lower not only the costs associated with packaging but also those related to transportation, offering a kit of 12 detergents that fit in a small box, saving the end customer 67% compared to regular detergents. In addition, our products do not contain extracts of animal origin, are not tested on animals, do not pollute if, for example, the detergent is thrown in the sink and ends up in the sea".
In a few months of operation Enzers has collected thousands of orders online and the interest of many physical retailers, in Italy and abroad, who want to contribute to the reduction of waste, pollution and the use and dispersion of microplastics in the environment. The startup, which is already present with its products in stores in Turin, Milan, Florence, Rome, Palermo and London, is about to enter the large-scale retail trade on a national scale: the distributors will offer an increasingly varied range of eco-sustainable products including plastic-free cloths and sponges, biodegradable tablets for dishwasher and washing machine.
